I had a great time at a special event for Aries Magazine. I am the Editor-in-Chief and also do event photography that Aries gets opportunities to attend. David Hexberg [Editoral Director] and Starr Stockman [Writer] including myself had a blast! We were able to meet a lot of great people and dance the night away. Did I mention there was a special guest? Yes! Raja who was the winner from the third season of RuPaul’s DragRace. It was a great honor that Brian Aranda with Vanity was able to get Aries in for a interview with Raja. She was down to earth and truly a sincere person. For the interview that Aries had with her check it out in the August issue at

I finally finished going through all my images from the show. Here a just a few more of my favorites from that night.

As the third stop on Florence + The Machine’s US tour happened in Reno, NV. My home town. I was able to go with my younger sister and it was one of the best shows I have been to. The atmosphere was peaceful, everyone was super nice. The overall show was fantastic! If I was given the chance to see her again I most definitely will. The interaction of the crowd with the music was priceless. With a natural stage presence Florence knows how to rock a show from the stage decor, to her costumes, and even her warm welcomed personality.

As a student studying photography, live performance photography is my ultimate goal. I love the energy that comes from the crowd and the ones on the stage. Its an amazing feeling! As a music photographer I want to be able to capture the emotion of the artist with their passion for music and performing. I hope everyone enjoys the images I have taken as much as I do. I really feel I caught her personality and love for music.

Here are more of The B-52s images I took awhile ago. It truly was an amazing show that I will always remember. All my images that I took from that night were taken with no flash. I strictly use only the stage lights at any show I use. I believe it is vary distracting for the performers to use a flash. I have used flash before and I have noticed that it tends to flatten the image. Don’t get me wrong I have seen many images of performers that have taken images with flash and have turned out amazing but personally for my style I prefer no flash.

I have the most amazing friends in the world! My friend Kim had received tickets for this show and wasn’t going to be able to make it and asked if I knew anyone who was interested in taking the tickets. I am a little bit on the younger side then the generation when Rick Springfield was a iconic pop star but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity. My friend was shocked when I told her I loved his music. It’s the man who sang Jessie’s Girl! In exchange of getting the tickets for free I provided her with some of the images. Not only did she love them, these images were the first ones I ever showed her from my portfolio. I think it was more of a fear that she would not like my work. I was thankful that my sister and I were able to take our cameras in with no problems and also blessed with such an amazing friend to provide the tickets. The images rock!

I love taking photography of live performances. The Rick Springfield show in Reno, Nevada was my first live performance shoot last year in over a year. It was amazing to get back to the subject I love the most. Live performance photography is my main focus within my passion. I guess it is because of the love and connection I share with the music.

Here are a few of my images I took from The B-52s show in Sparks, Nevada of May 2011. The images will be a year old in May but some of my favorite live performance photography I have shot has come from this show. Hope everyone enjoys them as much as I do.
